Apologies in advance for how grainy/fuzzy a few of the pics are. It was a relatively new camera at the time and I still was learning some of the settings, and apparently had something set on it that was not optimal. In early April, Once Upon A Time wrapped their 4th season. One of their last days of filming was on location in Steveston, which is their often used location for part of downtown Storybrooke. On this day they shot a couple scenes through out the day. starting in the early morning. A scene was shot which had several of the cast members laying on the ground including Jennifer Morrison, Lana Parrilla, Timothy Webber and possibly Sean Maguire from what I could see. There may have been more that were out of view from me. Also in the scene was Jared Gilmore, but he seemed to be standing through it all. What happened in the scene, I don't really know. Out of context, it really didn't make much sense to me, or others watching. Scenes often don't, but some of the time you can piece together what the general idea is...this was not one of those times. After they shot that scene, the actors for the night scenes came out, did a quick read thru/rehearsal for the scene before heading back to their trailers to wait for night fall. After they wrapped the daytime scene, they took a long break as they waited for the sun to set to shoot night scenes in the middle of downtown Steveston. The night scenes consisted of Sean Maguire, Lana Parrilla, Colin O'Donogue, Jennifer Morrison, Josh Dallas and Ginnifer Goodwin shooting scenes in the middle of the street. The scene appears to have some type of magic involved as the Regina Mills is frozen in the middle of the road, restrained by some unseen force. Robin Hood tries to rescue her, but is sent away by the "force". Eventually Emma comes in with Rumplestiltstins dagger and does her best He-Man impersonation which seemingly releases Regina from the mystery grip, and causes Emma to apparently vanish. Captain Hook looks on while Emma holds the dagger up and seemingly tries to convince her to not do whatever it is shes doing. Off to the side Snow White & Prince Charming stand in shock & horror as they watch all of this take place. With this shoot being their last run in Steveston for the season most of the cast were quite good about coming over at 1 point or another to meet fans & sign autographs. Lana, Jennifer, Colin, Josh and Sean all met with the fans at different times throughout the night. Once Upon A Time is nominated for May Madness, which is going on right now. THIS BLOG POST CONTAINS PHOTOS AND BREIF SCENE DESCRIPTIONS FOR EPISODE 412 OF "ONCE UPON A TIME". If you have not seen this episode and do not want to read or see possible spoilers from the episode, do not continue. . . . last warning . . Back in November I caught the cast & crew of the ABC fantasy series Once Upon A Time shooting in Steveston for episode 412. Like many trips to Steveston, the crew squeezed in as many scenes as they could to the small fishing village that stands in for Storybrooke, Maine. With so many scenes set for the day, once again I saw many different cast throughout the day. When I first got there, I saw Jennifer Morrison, Lana Parrilla, Ginnifer Goodwin, Colin O'Donoghue & Emilie de Ravin shooting scenes in the middle of Monctor Street (aka - Main street in Storybrooke). The scene had Regina & Emma run towards something, then Hook, Mary & Belle come up behind shortly after. In between takes the women eagerly grabbed their winter jackets to keep warm as Steveston has a reputation for being several degrees cooler than most other places in the Lower Mainland, while Colin seemingly seemed ok in his Hook attire. They continued filming with these 5 in the middle of the street before moving on to more scenes. Then the crew moved on to scenes where Lana & Jared Gilmore shoot a quick scene that seems to show Henry getting ready to go to school (seriously, does this kid ever actually go to school anymore? Also, who is teaching the kids?? Mary seems busy with other things). Next up was a scene where Jennifer drives down a street in the yellow Volkswagen Beetle that everyone knows as Emma Swan's car. Her passenger.... none other than Regina. A little later, there was a scene next to Mr. Golds with Colin & Jen where they exchange a couple quick words, a quick hug/kiss and proceed along the sidewalk with their arms around each other. At the time I thought I had found a great spot to sneak pics of this scene.... only to find out when I walked around where the crowd was watching from they had a pretty good view of the scene as well. Finally, scenes were done after it got dark in the middle of Moncton Street with Robert Carlyle and 2 cast members I had never seen prior to that moment. Victoria Smurfit & Merrin Dungey. Of course there has been plenty of news since this scene was shot about the 3 big bads of the back end of season 4 being Kristin Bauer van Straten as Maleficent, Smurfit as Cruella De Vil and Dungey as Ursula.... but at that time, no one really knew who Dungey was yet except for a couple fans that recognized her instantly.
The scene showed Cruella, Ursula and Mr. Gold walking aright down the middle of Main street talking and part or all of the topic of conversation seemed to be about Regina from what I could make out from snippets of conversation during the takes. Once Upon A Time returns NEXT WEEK, Sunday March 1st on ABC in the U.S. and on CTV in Canada. The 4th season of the hit ABC fantasy drama "Once Upon A Time" has begun filming in and around Vancouver, BC, Canada. Last week I caught the cast & crew out working in Steveston, or as you know it "Storybrooke" for a 2 day shoot. There was several scenes filmed over those 2 days, and I got a LOT of pics, so I am having to divide up things into 5 blog posts on it...yes FIVE. There was just that much stuff. So there will be a blog post solely on the night shoots here. There is a blog post on Jennifer Morrison & Colin O'Donoghue working together (already posted HERE). There will be a blog post on Ginnifer Goodwin & Josh Dallas working together along with a variety of other cast. There will be a blog post solely committed to the 2 Dwarves I saw filming over those days, and anyone that crossed paths with them in the scenes. Finally, there will be a blog post solely on the newest character for season 4, from the hit movie "Frozen" Queen Elisa, played by "Fringe" alum Georgina Haig. After a quick opinion poll on twitter, you guys decided you wanted to see the night shoot pics next, so here it is... in all their grainy & sometimes slightly blurry goodness. Lets start off with a bit of baby time. The night scenes gave Josh Dallas and Ginnifer Goodwin a chance to shoot scenes with a baby (is it their own baby filling in for the role?). During breaks Ginnifer Goodwin would interact with some of the cast carrying the baby. I nabbed a couple pics of her interacting with Sean Maguire, while holding the baby. The night shoots were hard to get much out of. The crew was being unreasonable, abusing their "power" (they have little to none...but the Richmond RCMP let them act like they did) so they had the fans actually standing SO FAR AWAY from where they were filming, there was literally nothing at all to be seen of the scene, from any of the angles where they were making everyone stand. Of course, I am not much for just accepting such absurd demands. So I did wander around, till I found a spot that helped me at least see part of the scene for awhile and helped me manage to get some shots of the scene. It was scenes with Marian (Christie Laing) out in Grannys Diners front yard yelling about what a monster Regina ( Lana Parrilla) is to a group of onlookers that included the Evil Queen herself. Robin Hood (Sean Maguire), Roland ( Raphael Alejandro) Captain Hook (Colin O'Donoghue), David & Mary (Josh Dallas and Ginnifer Goodwin ..as well as a baby), Emma (Jennifer Morrison), Henry (Jared Gilmore), Leroy & Walter (Lee Arenberg and Faustino Di Bauda) were all on set for these scenes at various points. A later scene saw Regina storm off throught the main street of Storybrooke after the altercation ended. What was the Evil Queens reaction to the verbal attack? Not too sure. The only audio that anyone could pick up was when Marian was yelling. All the scenes in the courtyard were partially or fully blocking most of the cast with crew, equipment and shrubbery. So there was not a lot that you could see at once. The 1st night, no cast came over to meet fans. Much to the chagrin of the couple dozen die hards that waited till 12:30 AM. But Lana Parrilla (on her birthday) did tell them she would be back there tomorrow. Sure enough, next night the majority of those that waited (some did not, because they waited near the barricades where they thought the security people would bring her over to) got to meet Lana when she stood around in front of the set and met with fans before security rushed her off while she was still talking and holding a fans hand. Georgina Haig also had a night shoot scene, but those pics will be part of the Elsa blog post coming up in the next week or so. You can follow Josh Dallas on Twitter.

Once Upon A Time Films some season 3 Finale scenes with several cast (contains wardrobe spoilers)4/6/2014 THIS POST CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR THE SEASON 3 FINALE OF "ONCE UPON A TIME". Please Do Not continue reading, or viewing the photos if you want to avoid spoilers. . . . last warning . . This season of Once Upon A Time recently filmed its finale. Unlike other seasons, few if any spoilers from the set seemed to come out. One thing that did come out however, was in the last few days of filming.... the cast in FTL clothes. Yeah I know, you've seen the "cast" in FTL clothes.....but have you seen EMMA SWAN in FTL clothes? Although we were unable to see what scenes were being shot at Burnaby's Central Park for the finale, we were able to get a glimpse at sevral of the cast ons eet, including Josh Dallas & Ginnifer Goodwin, Colin O'Donoghue, Jennifer Morrison & recurring guest star Meghan Ory. There had been rumours of Lana Parrilla also being at the set, but in the end, it seemed those were just rumours, as no sightings of the Evil Queen surfaced throughout their long day in the forest of Central Park. Later in the evening, the cast did some scenes that had just Josh, Meghan & Colin. With Ginny due to have her & Josh Dallas 1st child any day, the security was obviously overly protective of the couple, and understandably, they never came over. Colin O'Donoghue & Jennifer Morrison however did come over. What will happen in the season finale is more or less a mystery to everyone for once. But here are some 1st look pics of Jennifer Morrison in FTL attire, along with Colin O'Donoghue, Ginny & Josh & Meghan Ory from the set this past week. I am experimenting with a new way of showing the photos on here.... so please, feel free to let me know if you like this format better, or the old format. Once Upon A Time airs Sundays on ABC in the U.S. CTV in Canada. THIS POST MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS FOR AN EPISODE OF SEASON 3 "ONCE UPON A TIME". Do not read the blog post if you want to avoid those minor spoilers. The photos contain no notable spoiler. . . . last warning . . Season 3 of the ABC fantasy drama "Once Upon A Time" has rarely been seen around this year by the locals. With most of their production now in studio for the Neverland scenes, finding the cast on location has proved to be a challenge for most. So no shock, yesterday was my 1st venture to a OUAT set this season. It was in New Westminster at the house used for Regina. This particular set of scenes involved Dr. Archie Hopper (Raphael Sbarge), Regina Mills (Lana Parrilla) & a guest star who I cant name...because no one knows the name outside of the crew. I know what the scenes entailed somewhat, but cant go into too much detail. Just to say, it is a flashback scene involving the pair & baby Henry. There was nothing to see of the actual filming, unless you were there bright & early when they did a short scene of Archie walking to/away from the front door. The rest was all interior. We did however catch up to both stars outside. Raphael, on his lunch break, stopped to sign for the 7-10 fans that were there before heading back inside to do more work. Lana, after her filming concluded around 7 PM met all the fans, which by then was close to a dozen, and signed autographs & took photos. Below is a few photos from last night. I will have a few more photos of non-location OUAT interactions to post soon. Included in there will be some Jennifer Morrison pics from recently, and some leftover forgotten about pics from last season of Jamie Chung (Mulan) & Sarah Bolger (Princess Aurora) & a few from a friend who was at this past summers San Diego Comic-Con. Once Upon A Time season 3 is currently airing Sunday nights on ABC & CTV. This past weekend the cast for the ABC fantasy hit "Once Upon A Time" headed down to San Diego for their 3rd Comic-Con.
I managed to catch the cast either going down, or returning this year. While I was glad to see Robert Carlyle was back to being the happy to see us Bobby I remember from season 1 (he had soured a lot in S2 & I was afraid what S3 might bring) I was quite displeased to see the already unfriendly Emilie deRavin, who at least in the past would begrudgingly stop to sign if you could catch up to her speed walking self, now just outright refuses, even when she has to wait 45 seconds for her driver. The rest of the cast was great going to & returning from Comic-Con. The casts super-couple Josh Dallas & Ginnifer Goodwin chatted with us & other fans going there & returning. Jennifer Morrison donned her trademark ball cap pulled down low to avoid being seen, but still happily signed & chatted when she was recognized. We caught Lana Parrilla heading down to SDCC, but missed her returning. While we managed to get both Colin O'Donoghue & Michael Raymond-James going to & returning. Most of the cast told us how they loved doing these events, but one who I wont name, did state that they were not too pleased to be doing it, it isn't their thing, but is doing it because its expected. I admire that honesty, because you know theres dozens of others that were sent to San Diego to promote things that also didnt want to, but lie & say "oh yeah, I love doing that". Another person we saw coming in while we were there, but didnt know at the time who it was, Meta Golding (who will be in the next Hunger Games Movie) who is believed to be a newcomer to the cast, I have yet to learn what role she is getting. If anyone knows, please feel free to update me. Here are the photos of the cast interacting with the fans as they depart & return from the SDCC this past weekend. Occasionally, if you are on your way thru an airport, look around at the people you see there. It might be someone famous.
While seeing the OUAT cast in YVR is not a rarity, they did become much less common this season for me. But here is a handful of the encounters I had with them. Mostly Ginnifer Goodwin & Josh Dallas, Jennifer Morrison or Lana Parrilla. Occasionally I saw other cast members, like Jorge Garcia, Sarah Bolger or Michael Raymond-James as well. I dont recall which weeks these photos are from. Some of them have been in my blog section for a few months. But here is an assortment of pics of them when they came thru & how great they have been at interacting with the occasional fans & regulars that might see them. |
